Life Coach course workshop number 2

On the weekend of the 21 and 22 September 2013, I attended a workshop in Flinders St, Melbourne as part of a Life Coach Certificate IV qualification course that I am currently undertaking. It was the second workshop in a series of three.

I had already met all the participants except Kirsty. It was a real pleasure to meet Kirsty.
I sat next to Abby and repeatedly got her name wrong.
I would like to apologize to Abby for my too frequent faux pas.
Next to Abby at the large rectangular table sat Katrina.
Katrina has employment requiring her to use her coaching skills. I can only hope that one day I can be as good a coach as Katrina already is.
I am grateful to Katrina for two reasons.
Firstly,  Katrina had recommemded the nearby Rialto for a light lunch.
I went there on the Saturday and created a group meeting for all the students on the course.
Katrina shared a story about how a bloke had called her Barbie as a joke in front of an audience of peers. Katrina felt humiliated. I am male and had no idea of the effect a stupid barbie joke could have on a female.
Thank you Katrina for teaching me.
The only other bloke at the workshop was Daryl. I did a role play with Daryl that involved a NLP technique.
Thank you Daryl for helping me. Or as the youngsters say “props” to Daryl
Linda kindly joined me in a role play on the Saturday. The role play by Linda as a life coach was so succesful that at 5 am on Sunday morning I achieved my goal of submitting my VTAC application to study at University in 2014.
Thank you Linda. That goal had been delayed for 25 years.
Linda joined Carolyn and I for the lunch. A business sponsor shouted.

$15 lunch at the Rialto

$15 lunch at the Rialto

Carolyn shared her story with us. Carolyn’s story about her work had me gob smacked.
Carolyn deals in matters of life and death.

Amy has joined the group and had us all spellbound with her plans around yoga, wellness and taking groups to Bali.
Because I have some fluency in Bahasa Indonesia, I offered to help, if Amy would be my life coach. Amy declined on the grounds that I did not fit her client niche.
I think I understand.
Sally role played with me several times and it was exciting to hear of her plans of a business centrered around leadership.
Ange, owner of a succesful business, mother of 4, was the only stufent to finish the course and qualify. Ange already has a stack of quals including nursing and reiki.
I am grateful to Ange for always laughing at my jokes, even when they fell flat on the others.
Heather  mother of 2 beautiful little girls surprised the group of students by sharing that not only had she just teturned from a Hawaii, she would also be bidding at a hoise auction during our lunch break. Wow! I have never seen a better pair of boots. I needed to type very carefully then. Heather wore a pair of pink boots that looked like cuban heeled RM Williams.
I am grateful to Elizabeth for privately sharing with me insights into her family life. Elizabeth worked closely with me on the previous workshop and helped me to be marked comptetent in communication. Thank you Elizabeth.
I have left out our facilitator, Nicole, because words fail me when I try to describe how grateful I am to Nicole.
I have been a client and a student of Nicole.
Nicole has changed my life for the better.

Hi Joseph, it was really fun to hear your perspective on the weekend. I am so lucky I get to meet such wonderful groups of diverse people once a month and gain so much energy and knowledge from them in addition to sharing some of my own. Each weekend fills my cup so to speak. This forum is great way to connect with the alumni groups for future support. See you all soon!
